Bishop James D. Nelson Jr.

“A man after God’s own heart” is a phrase often utilized to describe some of the most prolific ministers of our time. Men of wisdom and valor. Those with character and charisma, strength and stability, power and poise. Bishop James D. Nelson Jr. is one who easily fits each of these descriptions. He idolizes only God, our creator, and fashions each of his decisions in God’s image alone. He utilizes the Word of God as his tool, his light, and his source of inspiration. 

A true servant leader, for over 30 years he has shared prolific messages and inspired listeners to fulfill their God-given destiny. In 2008, Bishop Nelson focused his efforts on planting new seeds in his hometown of Baltimore, MD and launched Destiny Christian Church. Through this vision, God has positioned him to educate, equip, and empower an ever-evolving society, a call he believes is not limited to the walls of the church. 

In 2019, he authored his first book, The Answer, offering practical principles for those on the journey to self-discovery. Within the city, he serves in various community outreach capacities with the Honorable Mayor Brandon M. Scott and consistently partners with prominent entities and service organizations such as John Hopkins University and JP Morgan Chase, as he arduously works to build a better Baltimore. 

Regardless of accolades, notoriety, and acclaim, his most treasured accomplishments and prized attributes are found in the reflection of those who carry his name: his three children; James III, Imani, Jade Milan and his grandson, James Nelson IV.
